Oct 19, 2011 · It says establishing a VPN connection, then a message pops up that says, "The VPN client driver has encountered an error". I thought I'd try here first before going to TAC. Has anybody had this problem and resolved it? Which is good, being a secure security program. The issue could be that the VPNagent is referencing an old VA driver to VaConn. The workaround is to uninstall the client, remove all files and references and then reinstall the driver. If you look up in Anyconnect DART, if you see that it can’t find the vpnva64.sys, that’s the problem.

Thanks! Can confirm this edit worked for me. Had seen this comment on a number of sites but using pre-release versions of Win8, so wasn’t too confident. PLus there’s supposed to be a new version (3.0.1) of the client which fully supports Win8 now. However, this edit fixed my client up in two seconds, using older 2.5 version. Handy
